Building what matters, leading who matter most.
Engineering leader with 20+ years in the industry. From hands-on designer/developer to leading departments of 30+ engineers across events, e-commerce, travel, defence, and hosting. Founder of an award winning hosting company running for over 18+ years.
The short version.
I lead engineering departments, not just teams. Currently heading up e-commerce engineering across five cross-functional squads, owning the full funnel from product browsing and bespoke design workflows through to payments, tax, and international order processing across both B2C and B2B platforms.
Over 20 years I have grown from a hands-on developer into a leader-of-leaders, developing high-performing Engineering Managers and senior ICs, hiring key roles including VP of Engineering, Head of Architecture, and Principal Engineers, and providing strategic input on organisational design, headcount planning, and resource strategy. I have led platform transformations from legacy systems to modern architectures, rebuilt mission-critical platforms processing tens of millions in annual transactions, and grown engineering organisations from small teams to 10+ squads.
Beyond my day role, I have run a successful hosting company for over 18 years, giving me a founder's perspective on infrastructure, reliability, and what it takes to build something that lasts in a competitive market. I am a champion of AI enablement in engineering, an advocate for innovation time and knowledge sharing, and I bring a business-driven, consumer-focused, solution architecture mindset to everything I do.
Thinking out loud about
engineering & where it's heading.
From posts on behalf of my own hosting company to broader thoughts on engineering leadership, AI in the industry, and building teams that last.
Things I am building.
Away from the keyboard.
Motorsport
Trackside at F1 grands prix, endurance races, and everything in between. Goes well with my passion for cars.
Travelling
Exploring new cities, cultures, and cuisines - this pairs nicely being a massive foodie and wine lover.
Hiking
Getting out on trails and into the countryside where I am lucky enough to live. Hampshire is a great place to do this.
Let's talk.
I am always open to conversations about engineering leadership, technology strategy, and interesting challenges. If you think we could work well together, I would love to hear from you.
